Koufonisia Beaches

Ammos beach is the main beach of the village and gives you the first sample of what you will see in the island. It is sandy, with turquoise water, and if you are staying in the village you have easy access by foot. You will swim overlooking the fishing boats that are moored in the bay of the beach.

Fanos beach is located about 1400 m. from the village and it is the next sandy beach after Harokopou. It is another beautiful sandy beach where you can enjoy your swimming in the turquoise waters. It is also recommended when in Koufonissi are blowing northerly and westerly winds.

Gala is a huge hole in the ground containing a beach. The name Gala was given by locals from the colour of the water inside the cave. It becomes visible only when you arrive. You should follow the path from the left hand end of the beach walking towards the east.When you will climb down to the beach for swimming you will face a unique experience and if the sea is calm, swim through the narrow passage to the open sea and back.

Harokopou beach called Finikas because of the namesake restaurant that exists in the area for many years. It is 1100 m. from the village and consists of a golden sandy beach with turquoise waters and unique atmosphere. It is recommended on days of northerly and westerly winds.

Hawaii beach is located in Kato Koufonisi and is one of the nicest beaches of the island. The turquoise waters and the golden sand will make you enjoy your swimming in peace and relaxation. You will have to walk about 10 minutes from the opposite side of the only tavern of the island.

Hontros Kavos beach is located 850 meters from the village. It is small and quiet beach with pebbles and is suitable for relaxation. It's southeast and is ideal for days with southwest and north winds.

Lakkoi beach is located in Kato Koufonisi and you will arrive there by boat from Pano Koufonisi. Protected from the winds and it is a beach with pebbles and light-colored waters.

Nero beach is located in Kato Koufonisi and you can get there by boat from Hora of Pano Koufonisi. It has sand, small pebbles and a rocky seabed with crystal clear, transparent waters. It is the largest beach on the island and is worth the visit.

The first beach you reach on your visit in Kato Koufonisi. Pebble beach, protected from the northern winds. Close to the beach there is the only restaurant of Venetsanou.

Walking along the cliff path towards the east, past Platia Pounda beach and before you get to Pori beach, about halfway, you will find a large rock pool, Pisina. It is a natural pool due to erosion of rocks filled with salt water and many visitors prefer to swim. But you must be careful, because there are dangerous places at the bottom and the passage to the sea is narrow.

Platia Pounta beach is located about 1800 m. from the village and is characterized as a secluded beach because there is no beach cafe or canteen. It is one of the most crowded beaches with sand and turquoise waters. You can get there on foot, by bike or by boat and it's protected from north winds.

Pori Beach has an incredible beauty that captivates the visitor. It consists of white sand and emerald waters and is huge in length. It is considered as one of the top beaches in Cyclades. It is approximately 3.5 km. from the village and is crowded. Located on the east side of the island, it is horseshoe-shaped and recommended on days of southerly and westerly winds.

100 meters from the port, to the west, you will find Spilia beach. It is usually a quiet beach, with pebbles and panoramic view. Sheltered to north winds and the best place to experience the fantastic sunset, when the sea is painted red and gold.
